Welcome to D TORCH FOUNDATION. This space is dedicated to honoring our beloved son, Donnell G. Floyd Jr., affectionately known as TORCH in the motorcycle community, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on September 10, 2024. He was not only a passionate motorcyclist, but he was a loving son, brother, father, husband, family man, and friend. His life, though cut short, left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. We loved him deeply, and his memory will forever live on in our hearts and our actions.
Our mission at the D TORCH FOUNDATION is to create lasting change within the motorcycle community and beyond. We invite you to join our collective effort to raise awareness for motorcycle safety, educate both aspiring riders and those new to the sport, and advocate for laws that protect riders across Maryland and beyond. As we mourn the loss of our son, we are also determined to ensure that his passing serves as a catalyst for transformation. Together, we can build a safer, more informed, and more supportive community for motorcyclists everywhere.
Motorcycle accidents can happen in the blink of an eye, and often, it’s the result of a lack of awareness, experience, or safety measures. Our foundation is committed to making sure that new riders receive the training and education they need, and that seasoned riders have access to resources that enhance their skills and safety. In addition to educating the public on safe riding practices, we will advocate for legislation that will protect motorcyclists on the road. We want to see stricter regulations on distracted driving, better infrastructure for riders, and more comprehensive safety standards for motorcycles themselves.
Beyond safety and legislation, we are also focused on offering support to the families affected by motorcycle tragedies. The emotional toll of losing a loved one in such an accident is devastating, and we are dedicated to providing assistance to those who are met with this terrible fate. Whether through financial support, counseling resources, or community events, our foundation aims to be a source of comfort and solidarity for those who need it most.
We also aim to help foster a sense of community within Maryland and the broader motorcycling world. Whether it’s through community events, group rides, or local outreach, we want to build relationships between riders and the communities they call home. Through these efforts, we hope to bridge gaps, encourage mutual support, and strengthen the fabric of our communities.
On this website and across all our social media platforms, you will find updates on our work, opportunities to volunteer, inspiring stories from those touched by our mission, and ways to make a tangible difference. In addition to raising awareness, we will host our annual motorcycle awareness event each May to honor riders and promote safe practices. In June, we will present the Donnell G. Floyd Jr. aka TORCH scholarship to a deserving student pursuing their dreams. Just as our son did.
We would be honored to have you partner with us in this endeavor. Whether you are a rider, a supporter, or someone who simply believes in making the world a better place, there is a role for you in the D TORCH FOUNDATION Family. Together, we can be the change we want to see in our community.
Welcome to the D TORCH FOUNDATION Family! God Bless you!
