Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert has a message for those on the roads, too.

“The roads are busier now,” Albert said. “I’m always double-checking to make sure that I am looking for that smaller vehicle or motorcycle. Hopefully, we get people to look a little extra and save a life. That’s what we’re all about.”

The MVA says more than 80% of fatalities occur between May and October. And more than three in five fatalities occur between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., with over half happening on weekends — between Friday and Sunday.
